Travel and Location Information
1. Getting To Your Hotel
The four recommended conference hotels [map locations 1-3] are all
located in and around the centre of Edinburgh.
- Arriving by Train:
The main railway station is called Edinburgh Waverley. The exit on
the south side of the station (near platforms 20 and 21) brings you onto
Market Street and a two minute walk to the Jury's Inn in Jeffrey Street [map
location 1]. For the other three conference hotels a short taxi ride
is recommended.
- Arriving by Air
(Edinburgh): Taxis and a regular bus service operate between Edinburgh
airport and the centre of Edinburgh. A taxi ride from the airport to the
centre of Edinburgh will cost around 15 pounds sterling. The airport buses
terminate on Waverley Bridge opposite the main entrance to Edinburgh
Waverley train station. A two minute walk from Waverley Bridge via Market
Street will bring you to the Jury's Inn in Jeffrey Street [map location
1].
- Arriving by Air
(Glasgow): There is a frequent bus service (No. 905) to Glasgow city
centre with drop off points at various locations in the city including
close to Queen Street railway station and at Buchanan bus station. There
are frequent connecting coach services to Edinburgh from Buchanan bus
station. On arrival in Edinburgh, coaches from Glasgow will pass through
Haymarket and terminate at St Andrew Square. There is also a frequent rail
service between Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley.
2. The Conference Venues
The main conference venue is the Edinburgh University
Conference and Training Centre [map location 4].
The tutorials, doctoral symposium, and workshops will take place in rooms

3. Getting To The Welcome Reception
There will be a welcome reception on the evening of Wednesday 25 September
at the Apex International
Hotel
[map location 3] (note, not the adjacent Apex Hotel), 6pm - 7.30pm..
4. Getting To The Conference Dinner
The conference dinner takes place within George Heriot's School [map
location 5] on the evening of Thursday 26 September. The dinner will be
preceded by a tour of the 17th century school buildings at 6.30pm,
and
drinks at 7pm. The dinner itself starts at 7.30pm.
